I've not extended an existing press, but have built and set up several
20-ton hydraulic units with which we press fireworks compositions.
Our mould sets are pretty heavy for one person to manage, just. They run
about 70lb. So the height of the press deck is important. We found that
right about 38" is right for most of our employees to both heave the mould
onto the deck, and then to actually see what they're doing while they're
pressing.
